The Dallas Cowboys have improved to 9-1 after a 27-17 win against the Baltimore Ravens. For the first time in franchise history, the Dallas Cowboys have won nine straight. This win for the Cowboys was their first ever victory against the Ravens. Dallas came into this game 0-4 against Baltimore.
How the Cowboys did it
Offense: Dak Prescott threw three touchdowns and had 301 yards through the air. This was Prescott’s second consecutive 300-yard pass game. Prescott is the first Cowboys rookie quarterback to throw for 300 yards in 2+ games. Dez Bryant caught six passes for 80 yards and scored two touchdowns. This was Dez’s 14th multi-touchdown game, which is the second most in Cowboys history. Cole Beasley had five catches for 59 yards and one touchdown. Jason Witten caught five passes for 37 yards. Ezekiel Elliot had 25 carries for 97 yards. Elliot broke the rookie record of 1,007 yards that was set in 1977 by Tony Dorsett. Elliot is now at 1,102 yards for the season. Offense had a total of 417 yards. The Cowboys offense have played eight straight games with 400 or more yards of total offense, which is the longest streak since the 2012-2013 season by the Denver Broncos. Offense gets an A for this performance. They squared off against the #1 defense in the league and they were able to burn and expose it.
Defense: Allowed 368 total yards. They were not able to force any turnovers, however they did manage to sack Ravens QB Joe Flacco once. They only allowed Baltimore to go 3-for-9 on third-down conversions. The defense had a hard time stopping the Ravens run game. Overall, the Cowboys defense had their hands full against Joe Flacco, Mike Wallace, Steve Smith & company. However, the defense was able to make stops at crucial moments. Defense deserves a B+. They did an excellent job staying in the game, but they need to sack the quarterback more and they need to force some turnovers.
Kicker Dan Bailey now holds the record for most field goals with 163. The most in franchise history.
On Thursday, the Cowboys will take on the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys’ previous two games on Thanksgiving have resulted in the Cowboys being blown out. Last season, they lost 33-14 to the Carolina Panthers, and the year before, they lost 33-10 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
This Thanksgiving, the Cowboys are hoping for better luck.
