“If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.” Have you ever heard this statement? Well, you know you have… over a million times! It’s been years since the USFL committee has talked about starting back up and running a regular season (spring football). The USFL has a great concept and talented teams. This week we feature two teams that fit the build of what football fanatics love, smash mouth football! Let’s take a look at this week’s game of the week.

Houston Gamblers
Houston has a great runner in running back Mark Thompson. He is 6’2, 235 pounds and can run between and outside the tackles. He will be the catalyst for the Gamblers this week. Running the ball will help Houston’s quarterback Clayton Thorson get the ball down field to wide outs Isiah Zuber and JoJo Ward. Look for this offense to control the clock this week. The game could come down to Houston’s offensive line versus the Breakers defensive line.

New Orleans Breakers
The New Orleans Breakers are 2-1 with their only loss to the Birmingham Stallions last week by 8 points. This team is led by Kyle Sloter who’s one of the top quarterbacks in the league. He is listed as probable for the second straight week. Quarterback Zach Smith will see more time under center while running backs Anthony Jones and Larry Rose III split time carrying the ball for the Breakers. Look for the Breakers offense to play an up-tempo type of game on offense. Remember they have the best defense in the USFL right now which in turn can give the offense a short field to work with at times.

Prediction
This will be an awesome game to cut your teeth on if you’ve never watch the USFL. Both teams have talent and head coaches with household names. There are a few guys that has played in the NFL and play abroad. This league will be a launching pad for young talented players looking to play in the NFL and coaches looking to coach in the league as well. This week I’m taking the New Orleans Breakers by 9!

Final Score
Breakers – 22
Gamblers – 13
