When the injury report came out this week. Broncos faithful wanted to believe that Peyton Manning’s injuries were just an excuse for his bad play last week. Honestly speaking, I thought last season would be his last year until Gary Kubiak was hired as head coach earlier this year. I wanted to believe the hype about Manning going out like a soldier taking his last stand and leaving as a champion. Well his story isn’t over until he says its over. On to the next Bronco quarterback… backup Brock Osweiler. I believed in his skill at playing, but leading? He played a good game in his start against the Bears in a 17-15 win.
Broncos Offense
I like a few people thought that Brock Osweiler would lose in his first start as the Bronco starter. He seemed a bit nervous in the beginning of the game but when he settled down and commanded his role as leader of the offense, the Broncos started moving up and down the field. He finished the game 20/27 for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Bears. Ronnie Hillman got the bulk of the carries on the ground. His nifty running racked up 102 yards on 21 carriers. It was the balance that Coach Kubiak wanted to see from the offense. Vernon Davis caught six passes for 68 yards in his role as Broncos tight end. Demaryius Thomas and Cody Latimer caught touchdown passes today.
Broncos Defense
Derek Wolf and Von Miller each sacked Jay Cutler during the contest. The Bears quarterback passed for 265 yards on 18/35 completions against the stingy Bronco defense. The defensive line held the Bears running game in check with 86 total yards on 25 carriers. The defense forced a fumble against Jay Cutler to seal the victory. “It was good seeing the defense take over the game again”, said Coach Kubiak. “They changed the dynamics of the game in the 3rd quarter.”
Patriots Coming to Town
The Patriots are coming to Denver for some Sunday night football and are looking to roll over the Broncos on their way to the Super Bowl. Brock Osweiler will have to play a mistake free game against the Patriot defense. I’m sure that the defense will be up to the test.
