Denver started slow and became more consistent throughout the game. After a slow start Bronco faithful started doubting the team in the first quarter. But in the second quarter they became the team that we expected to see. Peyton put in the work and the defense started to gel. Here are the keys to last Sunday’s victory over the Vikings.

Defense
The defense saves the day… AGAIN! T.J. Ward came from the backside of the line and swiped the ball from Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and Von Miller covered it up to seal the win. This was a very important game for the Broncos. “We’re not finding ways to win, we’re making plays to win,” Ward said. Ward’s sack was the seventh of the game for the Broncos defense who came in to the game ranked 3rd in sacks with 11 and first in overall defense.

Offense
When you talk of Peyton Manning the record setting quarterback for the Broncos, you talk about the passing records, games played and touchdowns. But if you look back at the four wins the Broncos have, they only have one win by more than a touchdown. Hmmmm… So how is that? The defense and special teams have become the standard for this team. Manning finished 17 for 27 for 213 and a touchdown with a pair of interceptions. Opposing teams are game planning to stop the offense while the defense is putting up impressive numbers.

An impressive win or let’s say staying alive. The Broncos defense will keep this team afloat until the offense has a break out game. It’s only a matter of time. The Oakland Raiders are next!
