SMU’s season ended Thursday with a 60-59 loss to UCLA (21-13) in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs (27-7) were poised for a Third Round match up with the UAB Blazers who upset Iowa State earlier in the day but a controversial goaltending call by center Yanick Moreira on a three point attempt by Bryce Alford with 10 seconds left.

SMU was led by guard Nic Moore (24 points, six 3’s) and a 19-to-0 scoring run that gave the Mustangs a nine point lead with 6 and ½ minutes remaining. UCLA was led by Alford’s 27 points on 9-for-13 shooting, including 9-for-11 on 3’s.
