In what is possibly the least anticipated NFL game of the season, the Houston Texans (2-10) travel to Jacksonville to battle the Jaguars (3-9) on the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football game of the week.
Following their franchise-record 10th consecutive loss — albeit a close 34-31 loss to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots — the Texans are in the driver’s seat for the top pick in next year’s NFL Draft. The Jaguars are 3-1 since their bye and have won back-to-back games for the first time since 2010, including a 13-6 win over the Texans at Reliant Stadium on November 24.
If Case Keenum, Ben Tate and Andre Johnson are as effective against Jacksonville as they were on Sunday against the Patriots, look for the Texans to snap their losing streak. Should Tate have one yard rushing and Johnson be held to two catches as in the last contest against the Jaguars, Jacksonville will prevail for the first time at home in over a year.
Expect another lackluster performance from Houston with the Jaguars coming out on top 24-10. Translation: by losing in Jacksonville, the Texans will win the Bridgewater Bowl, the right to draft Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with the top overall pick.
