The new look Denver offense was lack luster. Broncos fans all over the country watched and waited for the Broncos offense to take control. But it looked like Peyton Manning was uncomfortable with the run first method brought in by new coach Gary Kubiak. But, there’s a silver lining… The Broncos defense was spectacular! I would say the defense looked good or perhaps both quarterbacks looked just that bad. Here’s my recap of the game.

Offense
Peyton Manning is known as “The Sheriff”. He’s the old gun slinger and the field is his town. Peyton has the chance to claim a few more offensive passing records. On Sunday he failed to throw a passing touchdown. His numbers were 24-40 for 175 and ended up being sacked four times. His passer rating was 59.9 which made him look as if he didn’t trust the game plan set out for him. C. J. Anderson has to get his touches in order to become effective between the tackles. Let’s see how the offense performs on Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Defense
The defense played an excellent game. While recording three sacks, the Broncos defense scored twice on interceptions. Game breaker Aqib Talib’s 51-yard score sealed the deal for the Broncos. Let’s be honest, was the defense that good or was Joe Flacco’s play that bad? The defense made the run game of the Ravens look like a high school JV team. Danny Trevathan, DeMarcus Ware and the rest of the defense earned their paychecks in this game.

Next Week
Kansas City is up next and they showed a dominate defense by beating the Houston Texans. Kansas City’s West Coast offense was sharp at times, but their defense and special teams looked really good.
In order for the Broncos to pull out a win they’ll need to establish the running game and control the clock on offense. Peyton Manning will get his numbers but he has to allow the running game to get established. The Broncos cannot rely on the defense week in and week out to save the day.
