The sporting world is preparing itself for the Sweet Sixteen and baseball’s Opening Day games which is greatness for sports fans there are still a lot of cool events going on in the metroplex to check out. The weather finally has turned the corner to being more hospitable and with that you should get out and enjoy what DFW has to offer. The following is what I offer for the adventurous and daring:

Thursday, March 27
Queensrÿche: Time to go old school metal for this one. With 12 studio albums under their belt they are still rocking the scene and touring. So break out your mullet wig and head over to House of Blues Dallas for a night of metal mayhem. Don’t forget your earplugs!

Los Angeles Clippers vs Dallas Mavericks: The Mavs pulled off an amazing win over the Thunder on Tuesday night. They look to take the momentum from that game against the Clippers. The Clippers are still trying to move up in the playoff standings and the Mavs now find themselves on the outside looking in. Tipoff at the AAC is 7:30pm. Be there!

The Wizard of Oz: You’ve seen the movie a billion times but to see it performed as a play, well that’s something special. See the live action at the Music Hall in Fair Park and get some culture. Let us know how they pull off the flying monkeys!

Friday, March 28
Chelsea Handler: She’s popular, confident and will make you laugh. Handler is one of pop cultures prized possessions. She’s in town for “one night only” over at the Verizon Theatre. Take your girl and enjoy.

Nashville Predators vs Dallas Stars: The season is beginning to wind down and our Dallas Stars are a few points out of the playoff race. The final Wild Card spot is still within reach. It’s been a longtime since they’ve made the playoffs. Help them out and show your support by being at the American Airlines Center. Puck drops at 7:30pm.

The Creepshow: This might be the coolest name for a band ever! Be warned they are Canadians. That being said their style of rockabilly and punk should get you going. Catch them at the Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill.

Saturday, March 29
Mudbug Bash 2014: Crawfish season is here and now is the time to get some. While you’re at it enjoy music by headliner Jonathan Tyler as well as other bands. Rumor has it that some live alligators will be there. Oh and we’ll be there with a booth so don’t be shy…

Portland Timber vs FC Dallas: Yes Dallas has a soccer team. Yes they are undefeated. Yes they need you to be there. Cheer on FC Dallas in their young season as they make another run at their first title.

80’s Party: Celebrate a decade that brought us parachute pants and arcade game with music from the era. Diamondbag will be performing live with lots of hits to reminisce to at the Kessler Theater. Tickets will get you hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. “Cocomo” anyone?

Sunday, March 30
Bead Fest: That’s right! Your eyes do not deceive you. There is actually a local festival promoting all you’d ever want to know about making jewelry and beading. Feel free to learn from tutors and to bug the hell out of the vendors. A great way to spend a day learning something new out in Arlington.

Beer Kills Brain Cells: We think not, but see for yourself at Bryan Street Tavern. They’re hosting “Geeks Who Drink” trivia night. They have teams of six, or if your rolling solo, or with a wingman they’ll recruit others to help you participate. You won’t win actual money. However, you will win respect, gift certificates, and perhaps a free pint. The games begin at 8 pm.
