With the success of the CW’s Arrow and The Flash, the network has a second spinoff based in the Arrow-verse and its latest superhero show: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Caity Lotz, who portrayed Sara Lance / The Canary on Arrow during Seasons Two and Three before she is shot by Thea Queen in the Season Three premiere titled “The Calm” will portray the Sara Lance / White Canary, after being brought back from the dead with the aid of the Lazarus Pit. Brandon Routh will reprise his role of Ray Palmer / the A.T.O.M., this time as a series regular, after being a recurring character during Season Three of Arrow. Cast members from The Flash include: Captain Cold (Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Prison’s Break’s Dominic Purcell) and the Martin Stein half of Firestorm persona (Alias’ Victor Garber) are confirmed to appear in the series.
The show’s concept of pairing heroes and villains to form a ragtag team is something new for the DC Universe but not in recent memory (see Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in the cinematic universe). Based off the trailer, viewers should watch the chemistry between the team members, given their obvious differences in right and wrong.
Furthermore, from their appearances in the trailer Oliver (in his Arrow costume, although he “retired” in the Season Three finale “My Name is Oliver Queen”, which likely means that Oliver Queen is not done helping others, but will continue his journey towards becoming a hero. Barry Allen will also lend his talents at least for the pilot in training the team, along with time traveler Rip Hunter, who was mentioned by Eobard Thawne in “Fast Enough”, the Season One finale of The Flash.
With the show going into its rookie campaign expectations are high, given the success of Arrow and The Flash in recent DC Universe TV lore as well as Smallville’s run from 2001-11. With the star power of the lead characters as well as the guest stars, I expect DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to perform well.
