FRISCO, TX — The Texas Legends defeated the Austin Spurs 103-90 in front of a sold-out home crowd.
The Legends got off to an early advantage behind the hot shooting of Damion James and Eric Griffin who combined for 13 points in the first quarter. The lead increased to six early in the second catching the attention of the Spurs. Jarell Eddie fired off for 8 points going 2-2 from outside to power Austin on to a 31-21 second quarter and a 52-46 lead at the half. The Legends came out of the locker room determined, taking control halfway through the third and relentlessly forging through. The Legends outshot the Spurs 47% to 39% from the field grabbing a 13-point victory to increase to 3-1 on the season.
Griffin fired off a well-rounded stat sheet with team-high points and blocked shots totaling 26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocked shots. Damion James followed closely with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Renaldo Balkman added the team’s only double-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds.
JaMychal Green led the Spurs with 23 points and 13 rebounds while Jarell Eddie and Josh Davis combined for 34.
