The team of Thomas Devanna, PGA assistant professional at Tangle Ridge Golf Club, and his amateur partner, Ryan Grider, currently lead at the National Car Rental Pro-Scratch Championship. Devanna and Grider posted a 10-under par, 61, during the PM wave. Play was suspended at 6:32 PM. when inclement weather hit the Dallas area. Groups that did not finish round one will resume play at 8:30 AM Tuesday.
Casey Devoll, assistant professional at Rolling Hills Country Club, and his amateur partner, Jake Argento, are two shots off the lead after posting an 8-under par, 63, during the AM wave, while Luke Varner, PGA head professional at The Lakes at Castle Hills, and his amateur partner, Brad Gibson, are in third place after shooting a first round total of 7-under par, 64, during the AM round.
The Four-Ball Stroke Play Northern Texas PGA major championship is being played at Northwood Club and features a field of 82 teams of one PGA professional teamed with one scratch amateur.
Teams are competing for a share of the $24,000 purse. The winning team will take home $1,500 for first place. Amateurs will be awarded gift certificates. Round two is scheduled to start with tee times from 8:00 – 9:40 AM and 12:40 – 2:30 PM
The National Car Rental Pro-Scratch Championship is presented by Adventures in Golf, AHEAD, AT&T Byron Nelson, IMAVEX, Local Allstate Agent Brian Mahon, Mizuno USA and Volvik.
