West Virginia defeated Maryland 69-59 Sunday night. The Mountaineers (25-9) forced 23 Terrapin turnovers and were paced by Devin Williams (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Gary Browne (14 points, five steals).
Not only could Maryland (28-7) not recover from the high volume of turnovers but the loss of guard Melo Trimble (15 points, seven rebounds) to injury in the second half spelled the end to a successful first season for the Terrapins in the Big 10 Conference.
Up next: West Virginia will play undefeated Kentucky in the Sweet 16. Tip off is 3/26 at 8:45 pm CST.
