I have to say that I am pretty excited for Jurassic World to come out this summer. Starring Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio and Bryce Dallas Howard, the reboot is set twenty-two years after the opening of Jurassic Park in 1993. The island that the park resides on is now back up and running and features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park that was originally envisioned by its creator, John Hammond (the late Richard Attenborough). Complete with water attractions like the Shamu exhibit at Sea World, and high-tech looking balls that you can sit inside and navigate right next to actual dinosaurs, “Jurassic World” looks pretty cool. Ten years after the park’s opening, visitor rates had started to decline and so a new attraction is brought in to spark visitor interest once again. From the look of it, the new attraction is a 40-foot-tall dinosaur that is far more dangerous than the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The monster escapes its confinement and sends havoc spiraling all over the park and the visitors apparently are stuck on the island. In the trailer, Chris Pratt says that the large reptile is “killing for sport.” I don’t remember if the T-Rex in the first installment did that, but I’m pretty sure it was killing for a meal and not just fun! This new dinosaur looks pretty intense; I definitely wouldn’t want to get near it, let alone be stranded on an island with it! This is the perfect scenario for me – drama and suspense! I like the cast that was picked, which also features Jake Johnson (New Girl, Let’s Be Cops) and Judy Greer (27 Dresses, 13 Going on 30). But how will it compare to the 1993 film? It looks like this new one will be a top seller at the box office, without a doubt. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up beside the new Star Wars reboot as well. With 99 percent of people wanting to see it on Rotten Tomatoes, I don’t think this one will have a problem raking in the numbers. Can’t wait!
