Well the Super Bowl has come and gone and we’re once again survived another cold front. Now’s the time to get out and do something new, something different. Let us be your guide for this weekend’s coolest events here in the Metroplex. (P.S. – Apparently our Super Bowl hangover caused us to miss Thursday, we’ll make it up next week with Valentine’s Day.)
Friday, February 7
Shred UR Ex Party: Time to start the anti-Valentine’s Day parties with this one. Single and loving it? Burned in a previous relationship? Happy to be free? Then Quaker Steak & Lube in Carrollton is the place for you. You can drop off your exes old stuff and they’ll donate them to goodwill. Bring in a pic of your ex and they’ll happily shred it and in return offer you a “single” beer/wine for a “single” buck. Later that night there’s some live music going on. Who know you just might meet someone special.

Utah Jazz vs Dallas Mavericks: Our Lil’ Mavs have won three in a row over some mediocre talent. The Jazz should be an easy target and have lost three in a row. So if the basketball gods are willing, both streaks should continue. If that’s the case then you should be at the AAC to support the Mavs and with the victory and some luck, could be the sixth seed by end of night. Tipoff at 7:30 PM…Start your night off at Dick’s Last Resort and then enjoy the game.

DJ ATG: Be at McFadden’s Addison to get your late night groove on. Plus there should be some great cougar hunting if you know what we mean. Wink, wink. To help set up the ambiance, DJ ATG who is gaining popularity in Dallas will be throwing down the electro-house beats and a little dup-step on the side. Note to self, if hammered take a cab or uber. Addison police like those cougars are on the prowl.

Saturday, February 8
Phoenix Coyotes vs Dallas Stars: The Stars are on a mission to get back into playoff contention. This week has been a good one with a win over these same Coyotes in Phoenix and they took the Sharks to overtime. Collecting five points on the recent road trip was good but to close the gap even more they need to beat former Stars coach Dave Tippett and the Coyotes at home. Wear green and support the team. Puck drops at 7:00 PM.

Wade Bowen: You won’t want to miss out on Bowen’s performance at the Granada Theater. His brand of Red Dirt will go over well with the acoustics of the theater, creating a nice intimate setting. Enjoy “If We Ever Make It Home” and then have a cold one for us. Show starts around 10:20 PM or so.

Sunday, February 9
Polar Bear Plunge: We haven’t seen Dallas do something this cool since, well since…last year’s St. Pat’s Parade. By partaking in this year’s Polar Bear Plunge, you’ll be freezin’ for a reason. Your $15 donation will help out the folks at the Special Olympics. Plus you’ll get a t-shirt and there are prizes for those who last the longest. So be at Quaker Steak & Lube in Carrollton before 3 PM.

John Corbett: Yes, he of Hollywood fame can also play some music. Multi-talented? You bet. He’s on tour supporting his album Leaving Nothin’ Behind. Even as a kid he dreamed of being a musician so here’s your chance to see if can win you over with his brand of Texas music. Be at the Gas Monkey Bar-N-Grill for the show. He takes the stage at 8 PM.
