The Dallas Mavericks’ season isn’t getting better. On the contrary, it’s getting worse. Their record is now 4-16. Their worst in franchise history.
Let’s take a look at their last four games
San Antonio Spurs: Dallas was able to stay in this game. They did a good job of not falling too far behind. They even found themselves up by at 13 points in the third quarter. But Dallas could not get the job done as they lost 94-87. Wesley Matthews led the team with 26 points. Harrison Barnes and Seth Curry both combined an additional 31 points. They once again struggled with their three-point shots, going 10-for-30. They only made 43 percent of their field goals. Defense stepped up in this game, but the team collapsed.
Charlotte Hornets: This game went the same way it did against San Antonio. Dallas did not fall too far behind, but they failed to take the lead in this game. That’s at least the third time this season that Dallas was unable to take the lead in a game. Harrison Barnes led the team with 17 points. Justin Anderson scored 15 points, Deron Williams and Wesley Matthews 14 each, and Jonathan Gibson scored 11 points. The offense once again struggled making their three-point shots, going 9-for-31. They only made 37 percent of their field goals. They lost 97-87.
Chicago Bulls: Dallas’ fourth win of the season. Turned out to be an amazing night for Dallas as they won 107-82. Their biggest win this season. Dallas never lost the lead. Wesley Matthews led the team with 26 points, Harrison Barnes scored 22, and Dwight Powell 17. Offense still struggled with three-point shots, going 13-for-31 and making 46 percent of their field goals. A respectable win for Dallas.
Charlotte Hornets: Like their first bout with Charlotte a few days prior. Dallas stayed in the game and ultimately fell short at the end and lost 109-101. It was a back and forth game with both teams exchanging leads. Harrison Barnes led the team with 29 points, Wesley Matthews scored 16, Deron Williams and Dwight Powell both scored 15, and Jonathan Gibson 13. Offense again struggled with their three-point shots, going 13-for-36 and making 42 percent of their field goals.
On Wednesday, they’ll be taking on the Sacramento Kings. Dallas needs to find a way to make their three-point shots. Defense has been okay in these last four, but there’s still room to improve. The team overall has to improve and play better basketball.
