Colorado Takes Nicholls State To The Woodshed

CULogo
Mark another W for the Buffs as they look to face Oregon at home on Saturday.

For years the CU seemed to struggle against everybody. Well, on Saturday the Buffs showed some dominance against Nicholls State. In a game that everyone and even the opposing team knew they would win. The Buffs showed what everyone was waiting to see… dominance in every aspect of the game. Let’s recap Saturday’s 48-0 victory.

Offense
Nelson Spruce became the Buffs all time leader in receiving yards passing Micheal Westbrooks record at 2,548. He also passes Rae Carruth and Scotty McKnight respectively. He finished the game with 5 catches for 80 yards. The score was 24-0 at half time. Sefo Liufau separated his shoulder in last week’s game against CSU and was reluctant to throw, but had a few passes sail on him during the game. You couldnt tell because he always has a few to sail. All quarterbacks do it. Phillip Lindsay carried the ball 17 times for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns. Donovan Lee scored on a 59-yard scamper in the 3rd quarter.

Defense
Colorado defense held Nicholls State to almost nothing! Jared Bell made his presence felt during Saturday’s game with 2 interceptions – ones in the first and fourth quarters of play. The defense gave up a total of 166 yards to Nicholls State which hasn’t won a game in two years. The defense didn’t allow NS to cross the 50-yard line. The Colonels who lost their 21st straight game has some good recruits on both sides of the ball, but you can never tell by the way they played.

My thoughts
I believe the Buffs are entering next week’s game against Oregon on a high. Oregon lost last week to Utah so their wounded right now. Resting Sefo this week will help the Buffs come out strong against the Ducks defense. Let’s see on Saturday!
