The Broncos go into Arrowhead and spoils Kansas City’s party. The Kansas City Chiefs celebrated the heroes from past Super Bowls past at half time of Thursday night’s game. Denver won an otherwise ugly game with their defense again. Peyton Manning isn’t confident in the run first philosophy and it showed with him passing the ball every chance he had.
Defense
The Chiefs gave this game away. Jamal Charles rushed for 125 yards on 21 carries, along with a TD, but fumbled twice. The Broncos had five take aways and their defense looked like the ’85 Bears. The Broncos are gaining confidence because of DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller wrecking the offensive line of the Chiefs all night long. The cornerbacks proved that even though they gave up some long passing plays, they recover well in the red zone.
Offense
Let’s not panic about the stamina and arm strength of Peyton Manning. Honestly speaking he has never been a strong armed quarterback. He’s a heady player, he has never been fast or strong (breaking tackles). He is a creature of habit. Which means, if his line gives him time to see the field he can get the ball to his receivers, backs and tight ends. The line wasn’t all that great for the second game this year. Peyton spent his time on the turf waiting for an offensive lineman to help him up. The key to staying upright Peyton… HAND THE BALL OFF SIR! With the win Peyton Manning has won his seventh straight game at Arrowhead. He reached another milestone with 70,000 passing yards. Remember, this is a run first offense but Manning’s stats were 26 for 45, 256 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
My Take on the Game
I would like to see C. J. Anderson run the ball. He’s no threat to any defense on the planet if you don’t give him the rock! The reason why Manning spends more time on the turf than celebrating touchdown passes is the O-line. He struggles with being mobile, because he’s never been a mobile quarterback, so make it easy for him. Make him give the ball to the running back. Next week Detroit will not let up because their defensive strategy is to attack the rush early and often.
