The Texas Rangers just wrapped up a three-game sweep against the New York Yankees. The Rangers, 21-23, are now on a five-game winning streak, are 5-1 on their current road trip, and will now make their way to Cleveland for a three-game series against the Indians.

Colby Lewis was on the mound for the Rangers in Game 1. Lewis allowed eights hits and surrendered five runs while pitching for 6.2 innings, while only being able to strike out three batters. The Rangers won Game 1 with a score of 10-9. The Rangers scored seven runs in the third inning to make the score 7-0, but the Yankees battled back in the fourth cutting the score to 7-4. The Rangers didn’t fall out as they extended their lead to 10-5 heading into the eighth inning. After allowing the Yankees to score three more runs in the bottom of the eighth, and another in the bottom of the ninth, it looked as if the Yankees would come back and win, however the Rangers found a way to hold them off and win the game.

Nick Martinez took the mound for Game 2. Martinez allowed five hits, surrendered two runs, and struck out five batters, and improved to 4-0 for the season. This game couldn’t have gone better for the Rangers. In the third inning, they scored ten runs, including a triple as well as a homerun by Shin-Soo Choo. CC Sabathia, who was on the mound for the Yankees was pulled from the game during the third inning, thus making his start the shortest for the 14-year veteran. The Rangers won Game 2 with a score of 15-4.

Yovani Gallardo was on the mound for Texas in Game 3. Gallardo was 3-6 coming into this game, and had been struggling, but this turned out to be a good game for him. Gallardo allowed four hits, surrendered two runs, and struck out six batters to earn his fourth win of the season. The Rangers won Game 3, 5-2 and achieved their goal of sweeping the New York Yankees in the Bronx.

Phil Klein will be on the mound for the Rangers for his second major league start on Monday. Josh Hamilton will make his first appearance of the 2015 season. Josh Hamilton was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels last month. Hamilton hasn’t played this month due to off-season shoulder surgery. Hamilton has spent the last few weeks in the Texas Rangers minor league system working on a rehab assignment in preparation for his return to the main roster and the batting order.
