The people have spoken and boxing’s pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather is listening.
On Thursday via smart phone app, Mayweather annouced that he will rematch Marcos Maidana on September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden in a bout that will be televised on Showtime pay-per-view. This will only be Mayweather’s second rematch of his career, as he took two victories over lightweight José Luis Castillo in 2002 for the WBC & the Ring Lightweight titles
Despite saying he would no longer work with the company founded by Oscar De La Hoya. Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, confirmed that the bout will be co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Mayeather Promotions.
Mayweather’s last nine fights have been at the MGM Grand and have been promoted by Golden Boy, going back to May 5, 2007, when he fought De La Hoya.
