It only took 34 seconds for UFC women’s bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey to remind everyone why she’s the “Baddest Woman on the Planet.” Rousey used vicious combinations and a powerful overhand right to knockout previously undefeated Bethe Correia and close the show at UFC 190. Rousey has now won her last four fights in a combined 130 seconds! She’s now scheduled to take on No.1 contender Miesha Tate at the end of the year or early 2016. Tate is the only person to take Rousey out of the first round by lasting three rounds in her loss to the “Rowdy One” at UFC 168. An emotional Rousey dedicated the fight to the late great “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who passed away Friday due to a heart attack.
In the co-main event, Maurício “Shogun” Rua defeated Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira for the second time in their legendary career. Though the fight won’t go down as a classic like their fight 10 years ago in PRIDE did, both fighters entertained their fellow Brazilians with an action-packed fight. Rua overcame a very shaky first round, which he barely survived after getting caught by a right-hand hook from Nogueira. After getting his legs back, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion used lethal kicks and great combinations to take a (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) unanimous decision over his fellow Brazilian legend.
