High schoolers are officially out, college students are taking a break or back to work and many of you are working hard every day in your careers, but everyone needs some time off here and there. And Blitz has come across some great activities and events for everyone to relax and unwind a little this weekend before resuming your daily routine.

Friday June 7
Cody Simpson: For your youngin who is a fan of the Disney Channel and knows the name Cody Simpson, then listen up because your kids will love you for getting them this ticket. Born in Australia, his blond, wavy hair and his smooth voice has caught the attention of many teens and preteens around the nation. Signing with Atlantic Records, Simpson is on his way to become a big time singer. With hits like Coast to Coast and On My Mind which took the number 1 spot at Radio Disney for some time, Simpson is now traveling across the country. Loni Love: Gorgeous, funny and a great actress and tv personnel, Loni Love has come to Arlington and this is your chance to see the wonderfully talented Love. From CNN correspondent on “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News” to comedian on Comedy Central, she is making her name in many ways. Most recently she can be seen on “Chelsea Lately,” but Love is now performing for live audiences because she just loves the joy of making people laugh. Saturday June 8
Justin Family Fun Day: Although Justin is a smaller, country town and home to many Justin Boot shops, it’s also a family friendly town full of fun. Held at the Justin Community Park starting at 10 a.m., the day will be filled with many hands on activities for the kids. You can find your true inner Texan and participate in a corn hole tournament, listen to the live Texas music, see some mutton bustin and even live bull riding. Venders will be set up and many drinks and food will be available, so slide on your boot and bring the whole family. www.cityofjustin.com

Denton Babe Bash: Hailey’s club right off the Square in Denton is helping its local female leaders in the music world by showcasing the leading ladies of some local bands at this years Denton Babe Bash. Opening  their doors at 9 p.m. the club will host Sol Tax, The Breakfast Machine and Reinventing Jude, all who have some fun and exciting leading females. The purpose behind the bash is to inspire and support the arts of women and what they can do. IZOD IndyCar Series: The Texas Motor Speedway will be seating a big crowd this weekend with the IZOD Indycar Series: Firestone 550 coming into town. Drivers will be doing an autograph session at 3 p.m., then their introductions will begin a little after 7 and the cars will take off at 7:40. Justin Wilson was last year’s winner and Helio Castroneves has passed the checkered finish line first three times now. So for a fun day of loud engines and fast colors speeding by, head on down to the Speedway and find out who the next winner will be. www.indycar.com

Sunday June 9
Fashion Explosion: Dallas is a place of high fashion, and when you have the chance to see the newest and latest designs from all over the Dallas and Fort Worth area in one place, a Sunday couldn’t be better spent. The tickets are $15 ahead or $20 at the door which also gets you food and drink, and all proceeds help the homeless. Once inside, the sights and colors will amaze you, for all the clothing, accessories, and hair styles are one of a kind and right in front of your eyes.

Native Texas Butterfly House & Garden: Sleep in on this lazy Sunday, until you’re ready to get up and enjoy the scenery that Mother Earth has given us. From 1 to 5 p.m. the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary will be home to many different fluttering colors. The gorgeous host plants attract the native butterfly and other pollinator species. LEGO Travel Adventure: No matter the age, LEGO’s have always been a childhood toy, whether you’re designing at Barbie house of LEGO’s or making a Star Wars air craft, LEGO’s never seem to go out of style. And now the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum is helping everyone relive their childhood in their exhibit LEGO Travel Adventure. The exhibit encourages participants to build their own dream machine whether it can fly, float or whatever the mind can think up. Also inside the exhibit is a diorama of the actual Travel Adventure Vehicle. Everyone will be able to express their true imagination leaving only one question…what will you build? www.crsmithmuseum.org

Wounded Warrior Run: Whether you’re a runner or a participant, there is something wonderful about seeing thousands of runners racing towards the finish line showing their appreciation for those hero’s who have served our country. The 4th annual Wounded Warrior Half Marathon and 10 K will kick off bright and early Sunday morning in Las Colinas. The event is in honor of those veterans and those who are still currently serving in the military. Once finished with all the racing, the after party will kick off with food, drinks and live country music from Dave Robert, a Captain Cobra Pilot with the Marines. So whether you’re running or cheering the participants on, all hands are needed to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and Fisher House. www.dallasathletesracing.com
