The Texas Rangers have taken care of business against the Detroit Tigers. Now the Rangers are ready for their four-game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels. This will be their final series of the regular season and it is unquestionably their most important series of the season as well.
Against the Tigers, Colby Lewis took the mound for the Rangers in Game 1. In only 4.2 innings, Lewis allowed ten hits, surrendered six runs and struck out four batters. In other words, he got shelled. The offense though, had a solid night finishing with a total of ten hits, but were struck out a combined seven times. The Rangers came up short in Game 1 and lost 7-4. This loss ended Colby Lewis three-game winning streak.
Cole Hamels was on the mound for Game 2 against Detroit. In a hard fought six inning game, Hamels allowed seven hits, surrendered six runs, and struck out eight batters. The Rangers offense finished with a total of nine hits and were struck out a combined six times. The Rangers took the lead in the 4th inning, and held on to it for the remainder of the game, and escaped with a 7-6 win.
Yovani Gallardo pitched for Texas for the final game of the three series. In only 5.1 innings, Gallardo allowed nine hits, surrendered just two runs and struck out five batters. The Rangers offense finished with a remarkable performance with a total of nine hits, while only being struck out only three times. The Rangers cruised past the Tigers and won the final game 6-2 and the series.
With the Angels heading into town, the Rangers will now need to be more focused than they’ve ever been this entire season. This is the final series of the regular season and they will need to split it. They’ll need to take at least two games or even better and sweep the Angels to be officially declared the 2015 A.L. West champions. Derek Holland will be on the mound for the Rangers in Game 1. #NeverEverQuit
