The 96th Battle of the Piney Woods between the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks and the Sam Houston State University Bearkats took place on October 1, 2022 at NRG Stadium. The Bearkats had a come from behind victory to defeat the Lumberjacks 17-16 in the waning seconds of the game.
