Dallas Stars President and CEO Jim Lites announced the club has appointed Josh Bogorad to serve as a radio co-host alongside Bruce LeVine for all pre-game, intermission and post-game shows for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The team also announced that the preseason contest on Thursday, Sept. 26 against the Colorado Avalanche will be broadcast exclusively on SportsRadio 1310AM The Ticket.
Bogorad, 33, comes to the Stars with 17 years of broadcasting experience, most recently serving as the TV and radio play-by-play announcer for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. Prior to his stint with the Aces, he spent seven years (2003-2010) as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Corpus Christi IceRays of the Central Hockey League (CHL).
Bogorad has called more than 700 professional regular season and playoff hockey games in his career. In 2011 Bogorad was voted the ECHL Broadcaster of the Year. Prior to that, he was voted the CHL’s Best Broadcaster in 2008, 2009, and 2010. He was selected to call the CHL All-Star Game in 2005, 2007, and 2010, and he won the CHL’s Communications Executive of the Year Award in 2007.
The native of Los Angeles, California began his broadcasting career with the Los Angeles Kings as the team’s radio correspondent on 97.1FM KLSX. He later attended the University of Arizona, where he served as the broadcaster for the school’s hockey team in 2001. That season Bogorad was also selected to broadcast the ACHA National Championship tournament. Upon graduating from Arizona with a degree in media arts and a minor in communications, Bogorad was hired by the IceRays and remained in South Texas for seven seasons, becoming the longest tenured broadcaster in the team’s history.
In addition to his work as a hockey broadcaster, Bogorad has also called football, baseball, basketball, and hosted his own daily talk-show on Corpus Christi’s ESPN Radio affiliate. Bogorad and his wife, Andrea, have a one-year old son, Mason.
