The USFL is a very interesting football league. The league is shaping up to be very exciting to watch and to follow some pretty good football players. I am getting used to watching the games and having a sense of having football all year round. If you follow any sport, especially one that has an extended season like football. It doesn’t go over to well with women. “Honey-Do lists” are long after the NFL is over. The USFL will be a household name in a few years with the addition of spring football. Let’s take a look at this week featured football game.

Pittsburgh Maulers
The closer this team gets to winning their first game, they lose a receiver. In two consecutive weeks, Pittsburgh lost two of their top receivers to injuries. The most recent injured receiver is Bailey Gaither. He was in the top 10 in receiving, but wideout Tre Walker stepped up and caught 9 passes for 110 yards. Quarterback Kyle Lauletta will need help on the outside this week against Houston’s stingy defense. Pittsburgh will need to run the ball the week in order to have a chance for their first win.

Houston Gamblers
Houston has a pretty good defense. The key for this team will be forcing turnovers. Sure, they are in the middle of the pack in defensive pressures, sacks and tackles for loss, but they need to force turnovers and get the ball for the offense. On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Clayton Thorson has shown that he belongs in the league, but inconsistent play has hampered the Gamblers offense. Establishing the run will be the key for the Gamblers.

Prediction
I picked this game this week because I wanted to see if Pittsburgh could win their first game or if the Gamblers could turn the corner and establish themselves as one of the top teams in the USFL. Remember this is the league’s inaugural season. I’m taking Houston by 4 today!

Final Score
Gamblers – 17
Maulers – 13
