It’s been two games in and the USFL has been gaining traction as a league. The teams are littered with talented players that have NFL experience and unknown talented players. The USFL looks as if it’s here to stay! In this week’s game, the Birmingham Stallions will roll with quarterback J’Mar Smith who’s taken the league by storm. He was the Offensive Player of the Week in Week 1. New Orleans Breakers quarterback Kyle Sloter came in 3rd place for the same weekly award. Let’s take a look at this week’s USFL marquee matchup.

Birmingham Stallions
Birmingham has taken the role of the league’s flagship organization. Quarterback J’Mar Smith has been playing some really good ball both running and passing the ball under center. The Stallions offensive line has imposed their will in the 3rd and 4th quarters of the first two games. “Good ole smash mouth football mixed in with an electric jolt from a young talented quarterback is our key”, said Head Coach Skip Holtz. The offense reminds me of the old Notre Dame offense ran by his father Lou Holtz back in the 80s and 90s.

New Orleans Breakers
Quarterback Kyle Sloter has been lighting teams up since his start under center for the Breakers. As of Friday afternoon, he has been listed as questionable for this week’s game. There’s a strong possibility that he could miss this game and quarterback Zack Smith will get the starting nod. Have no fear Breaker fans Zack Smith had a great college career at Tulsa where he set all kinds of records. Look for the Breakers to keep the ball rolling with their stingy defense which creates scoring opportunities off of turnovers.

Prediction
Pick your poison! Birmingham’s offense versus New Orleans defense. This game will elevate both teams. The Breakers can keep a solid hold on the South division’s number 1 spot while Birmingham can take the lead with a win. I’m taking Birmingham by 10!

Final Score
Stallions – 24
Breaker – 14
