UFC 198 is scheduled to air in Curitiba, Brazil on May 14 and looks to be a big event for Brazil and the UFC in general. Though some may not be happy with the main event as it contains Fabricio Werdum facing Stipe Miocic, who is not very well known or as popular as Werdum or many other heavyweights in the division. Fans of the UFC might avoid taking in this card altogether, but before anyone makes a final decision on backing out of this card let’s look at why you need to watch this card.

Well for starters, this will be the first time in almost three years since former Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva has competed in front of his home country. With him returning to the stage in Brazil it should make fans more hyped to see him not only fight in his home country, but get himself back onto the leader board as he faces fast rising star Uriah Hall. Silva needs to prove to everyone why he is indeed still considered one of the greatest to ever compete inside the octagon of the UFC and work back to regaining the Middleweight title.

Then there is the co-main event between Ronaldo Souza and Vitor Belfort which could decide a new number one contender for the Middleweight title, which looks to be an intense fight that fans have been waiting for. With both of these fighters possessing great jiu-jitsu and striking power this fight seems very even and will give fans a possible war and prove to them who deserves the next crack at the belt with the possibility of bringing another title home to Brazil.

Next, is the long awaited debut of the most dangerous woman, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, to ever compete in the UFC. Cyborg has been longing to prove to the world why she is a force to be reckoned with. With all the talk about Cyborg ever competing in the UFC, it appeared that this was just a fantasy and no one ever believed it would happen. When the news broke that her debut fight was scheduled for this event against Leslie Smith fans rose to their feet in shock. UFC fans simply could not believe that Cyborg was officially signed to the UFC. If that was not big news then, what it means now is that this opens the door for possible fights against Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, and current Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate. This is yet another reason to tune into UFC 198 as fans will finally get to see just how well Cyborg competes and to see if she has what it takes to be successful in an organization such as the UFC.

Finally, of course, there is the main event between Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum and Stipe Miocic which looks to be a heavyweight fight in the making. Though I am sure after reading most of this article fans are still convinced that this fight looks to be one-sided with Werdum looking to finish the fight with ease. It might be true, but we cannot forget just how great of a competitor Miocic has become. Miocic shows great striking and ground game as well as being very consistent with his pacing giving him great cardio that could prove to be a major weapon for him in this fight. With that being said Miocic could very well give Werdum a real run for his money and possibly even end up shocking the world by defeating the top heavyweight in the division and finally earning the respect from the UFC and fans that he deserves.

After reviewing all that this card has to offer it becomes very clear why this is a card you do not want to miss as it is full of great matches that are bound to turn out to be enjoyed by fans and maybe an upset or two will take place that will give fans more for their money. No matter what, this is going to be an epic card and just like in the United States; in Brazil you better bring a big show or do not even bother bringing a show at all.
