Where to Watch the Super Bowl this Sunday in DFW

By Frank LaCosta

When it comes to the Super Bowl you have three options for taking in the Big Game:

1)      Go to a friend’s house – this could be greatness or it could really suck!

2)      Throw your own watch party – which means you have to do all the prep work and once everyone leaves after destroying your pad you’re stuck with clean up duty. File this under…really sucks!

3)      Go to one of these awesome venues and let them do all the dirty work.

I did the research so you can go with Option 3…and these are in no particular order of preference. They’re all great. ‘Nuff said!

Pokes Bar & Grill – This friendly bar off of Midway in Addison has it all. 27 large screen TVs, plenty of seating, hotties serving up delicious food and adult beverages. The Specials: Happy Hour drink prices until halftime and 10 wings for $5. Bonus: at halftime you can play foosball, shoot pool or play Beer Ball (greatness!)

West End Pub – If you’re in downtown Dallas there is only one place worth taking in the Super Bowl and this is it. Lots of TVs plus the Biggest HD Screen in the West End. The Specials: Baltimore Pit Beef Sandwiches, San Francisco Chicken Tetrzzini and New Orleans Jambalaya. They’ll also have lots of Craft Beer, Pub Jugs and Hurricanes. Bonus: at halftime you can crash in the “living room” on one of the couches if you beat us to it! Oh and beads, beads, beads.

Big Shucks – They have two locations plus their little brothers at Aw Shucks with there two spots. Want a New Orleans feel for Super Sunday then head here. They have plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure. The Specials: Football Platter Wings. Bonus: Crawfish! It’s never too early to get some mud bugs. Let the good times roll!

Buffalo Joe’s – A mainstay for those in the northern region of the Metroplex. TVs at the bar, TVs in the dining area, TVs on the patio. Get the point? The Specials: $2 Drafts and $3 wells in the afternoon. At 7pm they’ll have $3 U-Call-Its Bonus: If your lucky they’ll bust out the bbq and bouncy house from their anniversary party.

Fox & Hound  – With six Metroplex locations they have you covered. Plenty of seating, private room that might be available and great sound. A ton of beer on tap. The Specials: Buy 1 order of wings and get 1 order (to go only). Bonus: Shoot pool or throw some darts at halftime.

Angry Dog – When in Deep Ellum this is the spot to be at. They have an awesome bar and a real cool vibe. Check out the Marlin hanging over the bar. It’s awesome. The Specials: $3.50 Bloody Marys, Mimosas and Bud Select Drafts. Bonus: They have the best men’s restroom art in the Metroplex. Trust us on this one!

The Wild Turkey – They’ve been serving the chicken fried nation for 35 years and haven’t looked back. Yes they have hotties. Yes they have every drink under the sun. Yes they have TVs, reportedly at the Lewisville location it’s the largest HD Screen in the city. Don’t believe us? Check it out. The Specials: 2 for $20 sirloin steak special and Happy Hour prices through the 3rd Quarter. Bonus: Really nice patio if the weather is accommodating.

Frankie’s Sports Bar  – What started out as one awesome venue now has locations in Ft. Worth and Lewisville. In other words they are doing something right. For Super Bowl Sunday Frankie’s will be rocking because when they throw a party they go all out. The Specials: All you can eat menu, six drink tickets, a swag bag and raffle tickets for prizes at the end of each quarter for $50. Bonus: You can shoot pool or enjoy the patio at halftime.

The San Francisco Rose  – The oldest sports bar in the Metroplex is a stated fact. Other facts include: they’re throwing a house party and you’re invited. Lots of TVs, video games and pool tables available. The Specials: $1 Draft Beer and a complimentary nacho bar. Bonus: Pet friendly patio means bringing your best friend to take in the Big Game. Sad fact: Your best friend will end up getting more attention from the ladies then you!
