UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Thompson will air on June 18, 2016 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

#1 RORY “RED KING” MACDONALD (18-3-0) vs. #2 STEPHEN “WONDERBOY” THOMPSON (12-1-0)
This is a five round main event in the welterweight division. In this fight are two top welterweights that are looking to get a crack at the welterweight title, but in order to do so the winner must put on a great performance and walk away with an epic win that will prove to the world he has what it takes to become UFC Welterweight Champion. MacDonald brings boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu that has lead him to a near perfect record as well as being one of the top welterweight performers that the UFC has ever seen. Thompson brings kenpo karate, kickboxing and jiu-jitsu that has made him one of the deadliest strikers in the welterweight division and the entire UFC roster. Since this fight contains the two top title contenders the fight looks to be one that we cannot miss. It will most likely be an all out war to see who wants the next crack at the belt more. The way the fight looks to be laid out is that it will be all about who can manage their game plan the best. In that case MacDonald will want to get the fight to the ground where he will keep Thompson at bay and unable to cause any serious damage with his deadly striking. Though Thompson possesses strong defense on takedowns and in order for MacDonald to get a successful takedown he will have to overcome Thompson’s defense as well as his striking that he plans to use to great use, which is something I do not think MacDonald will be able to hold up to, since Thompson’s striking is far greater than anyone he has ever faced before. My prediction: Thompson wins via knockout in Round 2.

DONALD “COWBOY” CERRONE (29-7-0, 1 NC) vs. PATRICK “THE PREDATOR” COTE (24-9-0)
This is a three round fight in the welterweight division. In this fight are two fighters looking to work their way up the leader board. Both fighters also want to begin facing top dogs in the welterweight division as well as adding more impressive wins under their belt to help them gain a title shot in the near future. Cerrone brings boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu and wrestling that has made him well-rounded in grappling techniques as well as containing great cardio. Cote brings boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu and wrestling that has made him an effective striker and well rounded in cardio. With both fighters bringing similar techniques to the fight, it will come down to whoever can perform their skills more efficiently. Cerrone is still new to the welterweight division so he still has much to learn about how tough the division is, but in his first fight he had a great performance and if he does the same in this fight and takes what he learned in the lightweight division; then he could pack a big surprise and give Cote a fight for his money. Though Cote is very aggressive in striking and that might be more than Cerrone can handle since he really does not do well against aggressive style fighters and that could very well be the secret Cote needs to walk away with the win thus adding another major win to his record. My prediction: Cote wins via TKO in Round 1.

STEVE “THE BOSS” BOSSE (11-2-0) vs. SEAN “THE REAL OC” O’CONNELL (17-7-0)
This is a three round fight in the light heavyweight division. In this fight are two fighters who have not been with the UFC very long and want to show everyone why they deserve to be competing in the sport of MMA and with the UFC. Bosse brings boxing that has given him nine wins via knockout and a near perfect record. O’Connell brings striking and wrestling making him skilled on both in standing and ground game. With both fighters being skilled in the striking portion of style, the fight looks to be boxing style match and will come down to who has the more powerful strikes and stronger chin. In that case the fight will probably go towards O’Connell due to having more experience in the sport as well as also containing more ground game experience making the fight lean more in his favor. Though Bosses does have plenty of deadly strikes and that could be all he needs to defeat O’Connell and claim another victory thus continuing his path to rising to the top in the sport of MMA. My prediction: O’Connell wins via knockout in Round 2.
