UFC Fight Night: Korean Zombie vs. Rodriguez will air on November 10, 2018, in Denver, Colorado.
Preliminary Card (Fight Pass)
MARK “BUMBLEBEE” DE LA ROSA (10-1-0) vs JOBY SANCHEZ (11-3-0)
This is a three-round fight in the bantamweight division. La Rosa brings boxing and jiu-jitsu. Sanchez brings boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. Very well-round; La Rosa appears to have the better grappling. Even with his wrestling, Sanchez does not have enough to grapple with La Rosa. If the fight remained standing he has a slight advantage with his kickboxing. It will be highly unlikely he will be able to keep it standing. My prediction: La Rosa wins via submission in Round 2.
JOSEPH “BOPO” MORALES (9-1-0) vs ERIC “SHOWTIME” SHELTON (11-5-0)
This is a three-round fight in the flyweight division. Morales brings boxing, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. Shelton brings striking and jiu-jitsu. Tough fight, but Morales’ wrestling will get the best of Shelton. Shelton has jiu-jitsu to use; not enough to stand with Morales. The boxing Morales possesses is also too great for Shelton, which will weaken Shelton more before going to the ground. My prediction: Morales wins via unanimous decision.
DAVI “TASMANIAN DEVIL” RAMOS (8-2-0) vs JOHN GUNTHER (5-0-0)
This is a three-round fight in the lightweight division. Ramos brings some striking and jiu-jitsu. Gunther brings striking and jiu-jitsu. Similar style; Gunther is more well-paced. His jiu-jitsu hits the mark cleaner than Ramos. Even his striking is better with the amount of accuracy and damage he is able to inflict. My prediction: Gunther wins via submission in Round 3.
Preliminary Card (Fox Sports 1)
EVONTE “KING KAGE” SMITH (8-1-0) vs JULIAN “JUICY J” EROSA (22-5-0)
This is a three-round fight in the lightweight division. Smith brings striking and jiu-jitsu. Erosa brings striking, judo, and jiu-jitsu. The grappling Erosa possesses should show a great threat to Smith, but it won’t. With Smith’s striking power Erosa will not be able to find an opening to bring the fight to the ground. Smith will attack Erosa until finding the kill to secure the victory. My prediction: Smith wins via knockout in Round 1.
BENEIL “BENNY” DARIUSH (14-4-1) vs THIAGO MOISES (11-2-0)
This is a three-round fight in the lightweight division. Dariush brings striking, jiu-jitsu and wrestling. Moises brings striking and jiu-jitsu. Both have striking and grappling, but Dariush possesses better control from his wrestling. Moises can use his jiu-jitsu, but it’s not up to the same level. From start to finish Dariush looks to control this fight by turning it into a ground game. My prediction: Dariush wins via unanimous decision.
CHAS “THE SCRAPPER” SKELLY (17-3-0) vs BOBBY “THE WOLFMAN” MOFFETT (13-3-0)
This is a three-round fight in the featherweight division. Skelly brings karate, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. Moffett brings striking, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. Similar in style, but Skelly has better defense from his karate. He can dodge attacks better while setting up his own. With that being said he will pressure Moffett while wearing him down. This will then give him more leads until putting Moffett away for the win. My prediction: Skelly wins via TKO in Round 3.
ASHLEY “SPIDER MONKEY” YODER (5-4-0) vs AMANDA “ABC” COOPER (3-4-0)
This is a three-round fight in the women’s strawweight division. Yoder brings boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. Cooper brings boxing and jiu-jitsu. They both can strike and grapple, but Yoder can take the heavier hits. Cooper gets stunned easily when hit just right and Yoder can do just that with her boxing and kickboxing. Cooper’s best chance is to bring the fight to the ground, but Yoder’s takedown defense will make it almost impossible. My prediction: Yoder wins via TKO in Round 1.
Main Card (Fox Sports 1)
MIKE “THE LONE WOLF” TRIZANO (7-0-0) vs LUIS “VIOLENT BOB ROSE” PENA (5-0-0)
This is a three-round fight in the lightweight division. Trizano brings kickboxing and jiu-jitsu. Pena brings kickboxing and jiu-jitsu. Similar techniques, but Trizano has more speed. he can react better and attack more accurate. Pena can, but not as good as Trizano. Unless Pena can get early ground control on top then Trizano looks to take this fight to the end. My prediction: Trizano wins via unanimous decision.
MAYCEE “THE FUTURE” BARBER (5-0-0) vs HANNAH “SHOCKWAVE” CIFERS (8-2-0)
This is a three-round fight in the women’s strawweight division. Barber brings striking, karate, and jiu-jitsu. Cifers brings Muay Thai. The striking power Cifers’ possesses from her Muay Thai is highly dangerous. However, that is all she really has. Barber has striking, but grappling as well. Her jiu-jitsu is well-rounded and will be a big challenge for Cifers to overcome. With almost no grappling techniques Cifers looks to be taken apart with ease. My prediction: Barber wins via TKO in Round 3.
#3 JOSEPH BENAVIDEZ (25-5-0) vs #4 RAY “THE TAZMEXICAN DEVIL” BORG (11-3-0)
This is a three-round fight in the flyweight division. Benavidez brings boxing, kickboxing, and wrestling. Borg brings striking, Gaidojutsu, and jiu-jitsu. This fight looks to be a brawl as both are highly skilled. The wrestling Benavidez possesses to be his biggest weapon, but so with Borg’s Gaidojutsu. Borg’s Gaidojutsu is more aggressive and more well-round. Not to mention when adding in his striking power he will be inflicting more damage. My prediction: Borg wins via split decision.
#4 RAQUEL “ROCKY” PENNINGTON (9-6-0) vs #5 GERMAINE “THE IRON LADY” DE RANDAMIE (7-3-0)
This is a three-round fight in the women’s bantamweight division. Pennington brings boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. De Randamie brings boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. Both can take hits, but De Randamie is able to attack sharper. Pennington has power and speed, but not enough to bring down De Randamie. With De Randamine’s Muay Thai Pennington looks to eat up another beating; similar to Amanda Nunes. My prediction: De Randamie wins via unanimous decision.
#12 DONALD “COWBOY” CERRONE (33-11-0, 1 NC) vs MIKE “PLATINUM” PERRY (12-3-0)
This is a three-round co-main event in the welterweight division. Cerrone brings boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Gaidojutsu, and jiu-jitsu. Perry brings boxing, Muay Thai, and jiu-jitsu. Both are deadly strikers with aggressive power; Perry seems to be more aggressive. Cerrone has power and can grapple, but his ability to handle heavy strikes has declined lately. Perry has been cleaning up his mistakes and can throw heavy strikes. Cerrone still has plenty of fight left, but Perry looks to be too much to handle. My prediction: Perry wins via knockout in Round 2.
#10 CHAN SUNG “KOREAN ZOMBIE” JUNG (14-4-0) vs #15 YAIR “EL PANTERA” RODRIGUEZ (10-2-0)
This is a five-round main event in the featherweight division. Jung brings kickboxing, judo, taekwondo, and jiu-jitsu. Rodriguez brings striking, taekwondo, and jiu-jitsu. They both know grappling, but Jung is more equipped with striking techniques. Mixed with his speed Rodriguez looks to be in big trouble. Rodriguez could still manage to bring the fight to the ground and gain top control. That will be difficult with the speed and grappling power Jung possesses. My prediction: Jung wins via TKO in Round 2.
