Carolina Panthers vs. Denver Broncos
Sunday – February 7 – 5:30 PM CT
Levi’s Stadium – Santa Clara, California
Where do you want me to start? Do you want me to discuss Denver’s defense? Would you like me to critique the offense? Would you like me to discuss the special teams? There’s so many intricate parts to the Broncos making it to the Super Bowl this year. Not even four games ago Peyton Manning watched then starter Brock Osweiler take command of the offense during Denver’s 6-3 run through a tough schedule. “A team that stands together through the adversity can make it through anything!”, said Mike Ditka during the `85 Bears Super Bowl Championship. Let’s take a look at what Denver’s game plan for Championship Sunday.
Why you shouldn’t watch this game
You wife/girlfriend will be watching The 57th Annual Grammy Awards. She just love watching LL Cool J lick his lips while he`s introducing the next performing artist.
Why you should watch this game
Majority of the country thinks that Cam Newton needs to be taken to the woodshed because of his in game on the field celebrations. And Peyton Manning is the perfect quarterback to do it!
The key to victory is running the ball. Ronnie Hillman and C. J. Anderson have to provide balance running the ball. Ronnie Hillman gained 863 yards on the ground splitting carries with C. J. Anderson who added another 720. Peyton Manning is struggling with the deep ball. Manning is a timing quarterback that needs his receivers in certain areas on the field at a certain time. Running the ball will help the offensive line gain confidence against the defense of Carolina. You must keep in mind that the offensive line gave up 26 sacks this year. Manning isn’t a very mobile quarterback and the Panthers love sending their version of the “Jail Break Blitz!” Peyton Manning in the Pistol Offense is one way to keep him upright. Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Vernon Davis and Owen Daniels have to be physical coming off the line and running routes. I believe the offense will control the tempo of the game if the Broncos establish the run.
Denver’s defense is number one in every category in the NFL. The “No Fly Defense” which consists of Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr., T. J. Ward, and Darian Stewart has established itself as the best secondary in the NFL. The back ups are Bradley Roby, David Bruton Jr., and Kayvon Webster are capable interchangeable parts that keep quarterbacks from passing over 300 yards. Big, strong and physical anywhere on the field the Denver defensive backs can pick a pass and take it back for six. Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers and Phillip Rivers can share a few stories about these players. The interior and middle of the defense stirs up trouble every week. Derek Wolfe, Sylvester Williams, Malik Jackson, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan will make believers out of the Panther offense. This will be the true key to victory for both teams.
This game is rated 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. You will need hot wings (any flavor), three Papa John’s Meat Lovers pizzaz, a deli platter (no veggies) and two cases of Bud Light for this game.
One defense will be exposed. The Panthers offense is dynamic, the Broncos offense is serviceable, but the defenses have carried both Broncos and Panthers this year. My prediction is Denver by 7 points!
