DALLAS, Texas – The Championship match of the Yamaha Golf Cars / Lajitas Golf Resort Match Play Championship featured the #1 seed Stuart Deane, PGA golf coach at The University of Texas at Arlington, and the #11 seed Thomas Devanna, PGA assistant professional at Tangle Ridge Golf Club. The match resulted in a 2 & 1 victory for Deane.

Devanna took an early lead and was 3UP through eight holes, but momentum started to shift on hole #12. While Deane made pars, Devanna made bogey and double-bogey on holes 12 and 13, respectively, to allow Deane to bring the match back within reach. Deane then made birdie on hole 15 to sit at AS with three holes to play. With wins on holes 16 and 17, Deane put the match away without the need to play #18 for the victory.

This marks Deane’s tenth NTPGA individual major championship and third Match Play Championship victory. He also won the E-Z-GO Eastern Championship earlier this year. Deane took home $5,000 of the $32,800 Open Division purse.

For the fourth straight year the Championship included a Senior Division. This year the Division was expanded from four to eight of the top professionals from the 2015 OMEGA Senior Points Challenge list competing for their own $8,200 purse. In the Championship match, #5 seed Ronny Glanton, PGA head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course, squared off against #7 seed Gary Dennis, PGA teaching professional at Pecan Hollow Golf Course. Glanton started strong going 2UP after two holes. This momentum allowed him to take control of the match sitting at 5UP after nine holes. He bested Dennis 6 & 5 and took home a trophy and a check for $2,500.

The Yamaha Golf Cars Match Play Championship was contested October 26-28 at Dallas Country Club in Dallas, Texas, a 6,561-yard, par 70 layout. The Championship was presented by AT&T Byron Nelson, Justin Golf, Lorente Golf and Wee Golf. The top 32 players on the final 2015 Yamaha Golf Cars / Lajitas Golf Resort Player of the Year Points Challenge were invited to compete in the season-ending major championship.
