Let`s face it. Everyone knew the Bears would smash NWU last week. The point to the game was by how many? I predicted by 24 and boy was I wrong. The guys looked as if they had something to prove. And they did! No, I`m not talking about the coaching change or the Seth Russell`s return. I`m talking about Shock Linwood who stayed home for his senior year. Not only did he looked a poised runner, but he looked strong between and outside the tackle. Let`s take a look at the offense and defensive stars that will add another notch in the win column this weekend against SMU.

Offense
Shock Linwood is the key. Last week Shock carried the ball 9 times for 97 yards. He needs 107 to break the Baylor rushing record held by Walter Abercrombie who went to the Pittsburgh Steelers after leaving Baylor. The offensive line will be key against SMU`s young physical defensive line thats anchored by a freshman and sophomore book end defensive ends. This will be a true test for the O-line. Seth Russell will lead the Bears down the field with quick passes and deep post routes. The same way he picked a part the NWU Demons last week.

Defense
The key on the defensive side of the ball is LB Taylor Young. Lat week in limited play. He recorded five solo tackles including a sack and 2.5 tackles for a 21 yard loss. This guy will be on the Butkus Award watch for linebackers. He`s outstanding to say the least. The Bears are stingy in all three phases of defense. This will be a good game because SMU has a talented receiving core.

Prediction: I don`t see a change in what everyone is predicting. The Bears will beat SMU by 30 points.
