New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos
Sunday – January 24 – 2:05 PM CT
Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium – Denver, Colorado
“Manning versus Brady 5” This game will be the fifth postseason meeting between the two quarterbacks to see who will advance to the next game. They split the previous four. In order for the Broncos defense to disrupt Tom Brady they will have to get a strong pass rush. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware have to inject themselves in the A-gaps while Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan use their speed off the edges.
Last week the Broncos didn’t score a touchdown until the 4th quarter. The offense can’t sputter against the Patriots. They have to come out on fire! Peyton Manning has to be mindful of the pass rush from the Patriot defensive lineman. In order to control the defense they have to run the ball. Ronnie Hillman and C. J. Anderson must carry the ball at least 25 times combined. Protecting the ball will be key on the ground and through the air. The Patriot defense is a stingy defense that plays big when they game gets longer. The Bronco O-line will breakdown from time to time.
“A lot of quarterbacks don’t like pressure up the middle, so it’s one of those things you have to keep doing. That’s what we’ve been doing all year”, said defensive end Malik Jackson. “We have a great rotation, me, DE Derek Wolf, NT Sylvester Williams, DE Antonio Smith and DE Vance Walker.” The defensive rotation keeps the D-line fresh for pass rushing and stopping the run. Last Sunday, Derek Wolf and Antonio Smith recorded three sacks against Ben Roethlisberger. The Broncos 3-technique ends have combined for 17 sacks this year. That’s the ticket to disrupting Tom Brady and he can be stopped.
The Broncos defense will come out strong!
The Broncos will beat the Patriots by 6 points. Bookies and Las Vegas have the Patriots -3, but they`re dead wrong in this case. Once again I hate to say I told you so… Final Score: Broncos 27 – Patriots 21
