The Mean Green have lost two more games consecutive games and they’re now on a four-game losing streak. The Mean Green are 2-5 in Conference USA play and 7-13 overall. They’re in a very rough position. They’re in a deep black hole and they’re trying to find a way to dig themselves out. The time is now. They cannot afford to fall any deeper.
My thoughts on their last two games
Vs Middle Tennesee: What started out as a back and forth game turned out to be a blowout loss for the Mean Green. UNT did a good job staying in the game in the first half, but during the second half after taking a one-point lead, they fell behind and couldn’t climb back into it. Before the team knew it, they were trailing 52-39. The Mean Green were blown out 86-64. J-Mychal Reese led the Mean Green 20 points.
Vs University of Alabama-Birmingham: UNT was in for a very tough day as they were squaring off with the UAB Blazers who are undefeated in C-USA. During the first half, the Mean Green proved that they were up for the challenge and they led 35-33 at the break. However, after they lost the lead in the opening minute of the second half, they would go the rest of the game without recovering, and ultimately lost 78-57.
The Mean Green will be off until Jan. 30 when they travel to Houston to take on their conference rivals, the Rice Owls. UNT is currently in 11th place in the C-USA standings. Like I said earlier, they’re in a deep black hole, and if they’re to find a way to climb out of it, they need to start now. There’s only eleven games to go, and the Mean Green needs to win as many as they can if they’re going to make a March Madness run.
