The situation is becoming even worse for the Mean Green. They just can’t seem to find a way to get the job done. They’re now on a five-game losing streak and they’re sitting with a 2-6 record in Conference USA play, and a 7-14 overall record for this season.

Their most recent loss was against their C-USA rivals, the Owls of Rice University. This was a bit of a roller coaster game for the Mean Green. After the first half, they trailed 40-37, and in the second half they fell behind as many as eleven points, and despite getting close several times to tie the game, they couldn’t do it, and ultimately lost the game 95-87.

Jeremy Coombs led the Mean Green with a total of 25 points with 13 rebounds. J-Mychal Reese had 23 points, with Eric Katenda added an additional 16 points. The team only had two blocks in this game and a total of 28 rebounds. Defense did play pretty good, but despite their best efforts to stay in the game, it wasn’t enough.

Their next match will be against Southern Mississippi on Thursday. The Mean Green needs to go on a winning streak. There’s only ten games left. This will be their last chance to save their season. If they lose again, it may be over.
