The North Texas Mean Green Men’s Basketball team is set for the Conference USA tournament. They will face Western Kentucky this Wednesday. If the Mean Green can pull a miracle and defeat the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, they will advance to the quarterfinals and take on the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Thursday.

I will be the first to admit that the Mean Green proved me wrong. I thought that the Mean Green would have a much lower seeding. At #9 for the C-USA tournament, the Mean Green have a decent chance to at least advance for another round. If somehow, someway the Mean Green can run the tournament then they’ll have a qualifying bid for March Madness. I know it seems like a long shot, but crazier things have happened and this is the time for the “Madness” to begin.

The Mean Green have finished their regular season with a 12-19 overall record and  7-11 in C-USA play.

My thoughts on UNT’s final regular season game
The Mean Green took on the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in the final game of the season. Since it was a home game, the Mean Green had to make the best of it and fight for a win. And, yes, they did exactly that. They played a back-and-forth game and emerged victorious with a final score of 80-77. Eric Katenda led the Mean Green with 20 points with Deckie Johnson and J-Mychal Reese both scoring an additional 19 points apiece.

The Mean Green now need to get ready for Wednesday. They’ve worked hard to earn a spot their seeding in the C-USA tournament. They’ll need to make the best of it.

The Mean Green were humiliated by Rice last season in the tournament, and the Mean Green will look to avenge their loss from last season.
