Denver Nuggets Overall Record: 12-19

The Nuggets played four games this past week going 1-3. As a basketball fan you can see the team meshing but falling by the way side. How can they show so much promise in games they should lose, but fall to mediocre teams. How can the coaching staff turn a blind eye to talented players for fan favorites? Play those bench players, they are ready now. Let’s take a look at the past week and notes on each game.

Dec. 22 – Lakers 111 – Nuggets 107 – Loss
Kobe Bryant found strength in those old legs and scored 31 in the win. Kobe covered Will Barton like a blanket. The Nuggets didn’t have an answer for him. What’s baffling is the Nuggets had a 21 point lead going into the fourth period. This is the problem for this team. The Lakers are a struggling team and the Nuggets let them off the hook. They need the “kill a mosquito with an axe” mentality. Will Barton finished with 25 points in the loss.

Dec. 23 -Nuggets 104 – Suns 96 – Win
With the Nuggets leading scorer hurt and another starter out sick. How did the Nuggets beat the Suns? “Fifteen years in the league that is one of the better wins I have been a part of,” Denver Coach Mike Malone said. “We had every reason to go out there and feel sorry for ourselves and not show up.” Randy Foye scored 31 points in the win. The bench was terrific tonight! Darrel Arthur had 19 points and 10 rebounds while Will Barton added 17 in the victory.

Dec. 26 – Spurs 101- Nuggets 86 – Loss
San Antonio was too deep for Denver. Kwahi Leonard scored 20 points for the Spurs. With no Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili the Nuggets gave up 101 in the loss. “If you make one mistake, it’s over!” said Denver guard Randy Foye. “First quarter the Nuggets looked strong but, but soon fell off.” said Will Barton. The Nuggets are true to hustling and falling at the end of the games.

Dec. 27 – Thunder 122 – Nuggets 112 – Loss
Once again the Nuggets fall in the 4th. OKC started off slow and the Nuggets gave away the game in the fourth period once again. Russell Westbrook scored 30 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. Will Barton led the team in scoring, but the defensive was soft! This is a good team with no direction.
