Denver Nuggets Overall Record: 12-23

The Denver Nuggets just can’t get over the hump. Some nights they look like contenders and other nights they look really bad. Lets face it, this team is scary. Going 0-for-4 is horrible and to borrow a baseball term, it’s the equivalent of striking out four times in a game and earning a golden sombrero. The Nuggets right now have one. How can they turn it around and remain competitive in the Western Conference?

Dec. 29 – Cavaliers 93 – Nuggets 87 – Loss
No one could stop LeBron James. The Nuggets ran a box and 1 (four players in a zone and one playing man to man). LBJ scored 34 points on five players used to guard him. Honestly, I really didn’t see the Nuggets winning this one anyways. Will Barton led the team in scoring with 29 and that was about it. It was really hard watching this game.

Dec. 30 – Trail Blazers 110 – Nuggets 103 – Loss
I can at least say the Nuggets played a very intense game to be close in the fourth quarter. Will Barton scored 31 and Jameer Nelson added 14. My heart goes out to Kenneth Faried. He is undersized but plays like he’s 7 feet tall. He plays with a lot of passion but gets beat up in the 3rd and 4th quarters. This team can’t get over the hump! C. J. McCollum led the Trail Blazers with 29 points.

Jan. 2 – Warriors 111 – Nuggets 108 – Loss
Danilo Gallinari made his return with 24 points playing 41 minutes. He had some rust but played like a captain should play, but the 4th quarter caught them asleep at the wheel again. Jameer Nelson finished with 20 and Will Barton added 21 in the loss. The Warriors are a well balanced team even when last year’s MVP Stephen Curry is suffering from an injury. The overtime loss further tells us that they have heart but can’t finish!

Jan. 3 – Trail Blazers 112 – Nuggets 106 – Loss
The Nuggets lost to the Trail Blazers twice in one week. I can say the Nuggets put up a fight. It’s hard to see them fight for three quarters but lose in the fourth because of a lack luster effort on defense. The Trail Blazers had five players in double digit figures while Denver had a cold shooting night. Danilo Gallinari scored 29 points while Jameer Nelson had 17 points and 7 assists.
