Questions loom about the health of Cardinal All-American running back Christian McCaffrey. As of right now he’s listed as uncertain for Saturday’s contest against the Buffaloes. If you ask me, the team should game plan as if he’s playing. Game time decision on players keeps the defense guessing if they’re playing or not. Stanford is struggling this year and now is the perfect time to kick them while they’re down.

Offense
Steven Montez will start at quarterback for the Buffs. The Buffalo faithful are waiting on the return of senior quarterback Sefo Liafau return under center. Steven Montez has played really well in the games he’s played but he’s a bit shaky outside the pocket. He has to test the Cardinal corners to keep the defense honest. Running the ball will open up quick passes and sustaining time eating drives for scores. Phillip Lindsay needs the ball at least 20 times during this game. I hate watching pass after pass when you have a capable running back that averages 4+ yards a carry. Run the ball guys!

Defense
The Cardinal will live and die by the run. Christian McCaffrey has struggled this year. Every team on their schedule has loaded the box with eight defenders to stop McCaffrey. And it has worked! The Buffs defense has to make Cardinal quarterback Ryan Burns beat them with his arm. And at this point… he can’t! He has five touchdowns, four interceptions with 888 yards through the air. Make him throw the ball!

The pass rush will open up because of the inexperience of the tackles on both sides of the Cardinal offensive line. The Buffaloes should take advantage of the depth they have on the defensive line by playing those young players Saturday.

My Prediction
This contest will be an ugly one. Colorado has a 50% chance to win. The Cardinal are looking to change their season with a win Saturday. With a win at Stanford, Colorado can prove to the country that they are for real. I’m taking the Buffaloes in this one. Colorado 17 – Stanford 10
