The ankle injury to starting QB Sefo Liufau put a scare into the Colorado faithful after leaving the game in the 3rd quarter versus the Wolverines last week. Coach Mike McIntyre wasn’t worried at all about his star quarterback and team captain. As of Tuesday, Liufau was running around in full pads and looked better than he did on Monday. “He might not play Saturday against Oregon but his quick return puts us back on track for a bowl game, Coach McIntyre said.”
The only way the Buffs can have control on offense is to have a balanced attack. 50/50 with the run and pass. Steven Montez played pretty well coming off the bench for Sefo Liufau. He finished with 6 of 17 with a 117 yards and two touchdowns. He showed a lot of confidence playing against the Michigan stiff defense. Phillip Lindsay will have to carry the load. As of last week he has 39 carries for 176 yards. I would like to see him carry the ball at least 15 times against Oregon. If the Buffaloes control the clock by the running the ball. They can win the game.
Oregon has a wide open offense. I can list the players to watch, but let’s concentrate on what the Buffaloes need to do instead of who they need to stop. The defensive line starts it. The D-line has to control the Ducks running game. I don’t see it being possible if they can’t clog up the A and B gaps of the Ducks line. Oregon does a great job of trap blocking and the Buffaloes have always had problems with pulling guards. I’m sure that Coach McIntyre and the defensive staff will be prepared to counter each play the Ducks will run.
Last week in Michigan, the Buffaloes jumped out to a 21-0 lead but fell by the wayside in the latter quarters. I can see this game being close and I believe the Buffaloes will pull it off. On a snack scale.
You should order 2 medium pepperoni pizzas and wings. The Buffaloes will pull it off by 3 points!
