Last week, Kenny Henderson of the Dallas Vigilantes was named Ironman of the Week for the Arena Football League. For those of you who have never seen him play, you are really missing something special. He does it all for Dallas, from dynamic kick returns to making big play catches. He earned the award after giving it his all the previous week against Tulsa when he had 10 catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. That was just on offense! He returned a kickoff 56 yards for another touchdown and finished the night with 172 return yards. He currently leads the league in all purpose yards.

Last Saturday night, the Vigilantes were in Alabama to take on the Vipers. Dallas had one of their best first halves of the season. Henderson was the “go to” guy in the first half with two touchdowns. In the second quarter, Collin Drafts was sacked by the Viper defense and was out the rest of the game with a shoulder and elbow injury. BJ Hall got his first snaps of the season at quarterback and was impressive. He had a 34 yard run that set up a touchdown pass to Larry Brackins. After a strong performance, Dallas trailed at halftime down 33-31.

Hall ran in the only Dallas score of the third quarter. Hall hit Henderson for a 20-yard touchdown pass and Dallas took the lead 45-40 early in the fourth. Dallas needed a field goal in the final seconds to send it to overtime. The kick bounced off the post and Dallas lost yet another heartbreaker 55-52. Hall may have brought new hope to the offense and created a possible quarterback controversy.

This season has not gone as planned for the team nor its fans. They are now 1-9 for the season but have not quit. You can tell by the looks on their faces in the locker room that they are determined to win. A few breaks here and there and they would have a much better record. This Saturday, they play at Oklahoma City.
