#13 Baylor Bears vs Iowa State Cyclones
Saturday – October 1 – 11:00 a.m.
Jack Trice Stadium – Ames – Iowa
Records Before the Game
Baylor Bears (4-0, 1-0)
Iowa State Cyclones (1-3, 0-1)
When you look at the records one would say, “Baylor has an easy win!” Trust me the Cyclones are laying in wait. This game will be the turning point of their season. The Iowa State faithful would love to knock off the 13th ranked Bears in Ames this weekend. The Bears has a 86.3% chance of winning by ESPN’s Matchup Predictor. By adding this percentage predictor it makes it easy for non-football followers to understand that the Bears will crush ISU on the road.
Seth Russell is playing lights out under center. In the first four games he has passed for 1148 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has to stretch the field in the this one. KD Cannon is his favorite receiver. KD has 27 receptions for 370 yards and four touchdowns. He’s dangerous in slot but they play him on the outside. He’s gained more yards in the slot than on the outside. Shock Linwood seems like the odd man out at running back. Terence Williams has carried the bulk of the time in four games. He has 55 carries for 284 yards and four touchdowns. I would like to see Shock Linwood carry the ball at least 12 times in the first half on Saturday. The offense has no problems with scoring points, but they need to get a fast start in this one.
ISU quarterback Joel Landing is the key for the defense. He has a quick release and is a threat to run in short situations. Don’t let the 55% competition rate fool you. He has had 29 drops by his receivers in crucial times which has led to ISU’s 1-3 record. They are a good team. Running back Mike Warren has carried the ball 61 times for 256 yards and a touchdown. He will carry the load coming out of the back field. The pass rush from the defensive line will make quick work of the Cyclones if they play an aggressive game from start to finish.
The Baylor offense will come out strong this week. The defense will dominate ISU’s offense with corner blitzes and outside pressure. I see this game being a blow out. Final score 40 – 7 Bears win!
