At UFC 200 Amanda Nunes shocked the world with a first round submission victory over Miesha Tate to become the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and the first Brazilian to hold the title. Heading into the fight as a big underdog Nunes proved once again that numbers don’t mean anything and it is all about how you perform and put your heart and soul into every bit of effort you have. She did just that as she maintained her distance from Tate and even quickly rose to her feet after Tate took her to the ground and began her aggressive tactics upon her causing Tate to lose energy fast and not make it past her first title defense.
In that well-styled fighting Nunes proved why she is the most dangerous female athlete in the UFC and that now leaves her open for new challenges to continue to prove herself to the entire world.
With that being said possible new opponents she could face are fighters such as Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey or Cris Cyborg who are three of the most battle-tested female athletes to ever compete in the sport of MMA. A victory over one of them would surely give Nunes a significant boost in her career and possibly show everyone that she is the women’s bantamweight champion that they have been waiting for. Nunes could dominate the division and be the Jon Jones / Anderson Silva of women’s MMA.
For now Nunes can only sit back and enjoy her time as champion and be proud to represent her country as she waits to see what lies ahead in her future.
