Washington Huskies vs. Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles
Saturday – December 26 – 1:20 pm CT
Cotton Bowl – Dallas, Texas
Records Before the Game
Washington Huskies (6-6, 4-5 Pac-12)
Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (9-4, 7-1 C-USA)
This bowl game will showcase a pretty tough Huskies defense vs one of the most potent offenses in college football. The Huskies currently rank 29th in total defense and are definitely the most reliable unit that the Huskies have.
However the Golden Eagles have the 10th ranked offense in college football and average 41 points per game. It is no wonder that they were able to have a great season in Conference-USA where the talent level is not that great.
The Golden Eagles will be led by their quarterback Nick Mullens who passed for over 4,100 yards, 36 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Couple that with two running backs who rushed for over 1,000 yards each and a combined 22 rushing touchdowns, and you have yourself an offense that is extremely hard to predict and stop.
The Huskies have had a hard time scoring at different points during their season and average about 29 points a game. They will definitely need to score more points than that in order to have a chance in this game.
Ultimately the Golden Eagle offense should prove to be too much for the Huskies defense.
Prediction: Southern Miss 45 – Washington 31
